Naturopathic Medicine in the Interlake

Naturopathic Education

To apply for the naturopathic medical program you must complete a minimum of 3 years of pre-medical science courses at a University.  Naturopathic medicine itself is a 4 year full time program.  To date the only accredited school in Canada is the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine located in Toronto.  Studies include more than 4500 hours of classroom training and 1500 hours of supervised clinical experience.  In order to recieve your license to practice you must successfully complete the NPLEX board exams which are written after the 2nd and 4th year of study.  NPLEX is a standardized examination used by all licensing jurisdictions for naturopathic doctors in North America.   Upon completing the NPLEX examination you must pass an oral and written provincial exam.  Once licensed you must partake in continuing education as outlined by the Manitoba Naturopathic Association.
